Drafting and Planning/ Organisation: NME creative task.

Drafting & Planning

I have imported an image of Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails into Paint.Net.
I used the magic wand tool to remove the white back ground. Next, I imported the NME masthead, and moved it down the layer list, so that the image of the cover star was blocking the masthead.
I flattened the Paint.Net image and copied it into a publisher document. Here I chose Bolts SF for my font because it was bold but still easy to read. I added a Pug in the form of a free CD and a Puff in the form of a Nirvana exclusive. I used anchorage text to accompany the main cover line. I have also added a date, web address, price and barcode to the front cover.

Organisation

This task has helped me understand the organisation of the content on a magazine cover, and has given me practice for understanding the codes and conventions of magazines. I now understand how moving the cover star in front of the masthead can make the magazine more effective in attracting a target audience. My articles and images are layed out in a much more organised and attractive fashion compared to my organisation of content on covers in my Preliminary task. The secondary cover lines overlap the cover star much less and I believe the NME creative task is much more professional looking, and closer to a real magazine than the preliminary task.
